To deliver practical training helping crew navigate real-world challenges — protecting their safety, careers and reputation.

Professional development for yacht crew — beyond the traditional training.
Practical training for the situations crew face in real life - onboard and ashore to strengthen professionalism, reputation and personal risk awareness.
Blue Skies Training brings together 30+ years of experience in risk, insurance and legal claims with first-hand professional yachting experience.
Our courses are interactive engaging, and practical, using realistic scenarios, discussion and shared experience including real-life events that can affect crew and the reputation of the yachts and owners they represent.

I bring more than 30 years of corporate experience across risk management, insurance, and legal claims, where managing risk, responsibility, behavior, and reputation has been central to my career.
14 years, as the Legal Claims Manager for Diageo, one of the world’s leading drinks companies, home to brands including Guinness, Johnnie Walker, and Smirnoff.
Prior to this, the Legal Claims Manager for Tesco, where I led a large team and developed risk management initiatives to keep people safe, reduce claims and protecting both individual and corporate reputation.
My husband Mike and I have been based in the South of France since 2008 embedded in the yachting community. Over the years, I have heard firsthand about the challenges and situations crew can face away from the yacht.
Combining these insights with my professional background in risk, behavior, and reputation led me to create Blue Skies Training — practical training courses designed for professional development.
Our skill development programs help crew navigate real-world situations, make responsible decisions, and protect their safety, careers, and professional reputation.

Mike Jardine as a former professional yacht crew member and yacht captain, understands firsthand the realities of crew life, the pressures of the job, and the responsibilities that come with working aboard a yacht. He brings a unique perspective from the other side of the fence and has helped develop this focused training for yachting.
Yachting continues to be an integral part of our family life, with our daughter and son-in-law both working within the industry today.
Together, these diverse perspectives and combined experience inspired us to create Blue Skies Training —offering training courses designed around real-life situations that can impact yacht crew, their careers, their colleagues, and the reputation of the yachts and owners they represent.
Our focus on skill development ensures that crew members are well-prepared for the challenges they face.

Blue Skies Training has developed a programme of focused, practical courses addressing the professional and personal challenges that yacht crew can encounter throughout their careers.
Responsible drinking & alcohol awareness
Most people enjoy alcohol in their lives, but it’s important that crew fully understand the risks and responsibilities.
This training is designed to help you understand the legal framework, what responsible drinking means and what this means for yachting professionals.
Practical strategies to help crew enjoy their social lives while protecting themselves, their colleagues and their careers.
It’s practical, relevant — and fun.
For Captains & Senior Crew: we have the additional module on how to lead a responsible drinking culture onboard, giving leaders practical guidance on setting expectations and supporting their crew.
Personal safety ashore
From my corporate background, all employees were required to undertake personal risk training when travelling away from home.
Drawing on this experience, and understanding the particular risks faced by yacht crew, we have devised a training programme specifically for the yachting environment.
This will equip crew to appreciate and assess risk and take appropriate measures to help keep themselves safe whilst off the yacht.
Change & resilience
We all have an emotional response to change.
This training session covers scenarios yacht crew will face and the emotional cycle of change, how to harness this to manage performance and resilience. For crew this helps them navigate change in their career and for leaders, it’s essential for team performance management so they can adapt style and get the best from their crew.
Certification
Participants receive a Blue Skies Training Certificate of Completion following each course.
The certificate provides evidence of attendance and commitment to the training, demonstrating that participants have invested in their own professional development.
